Steel Challenge (formerly Rimfire Steel)
Steel Challenge 01-17-21
Well 13 shooters decided the cold weather was not going to keep them from shooting. A total of 16 guns were shot, with propane heaters and hand warmers in use between rounds. Still not bad for a January day. Results are posted in practiscore. |
Steel Challenge 12-19-20
Well, the cold weather didn't stop 16 shooters from having a good time. Portable propane heaters and hand warmer packs helped keep trigger fingers working. Some very good scores were shot and nobody complained. Thanks again to all who pitched in and helped to make the shoot run smoothly. |

Steel Challenge October 17, 2020
Another beautiful day to shoot. Match started out chilly but long sleeves, jackets and hats were soon removed to shoot. 17 shooters participated with a total of 25 guns. We had a pre-match meeting and everyone wanted to continue shooting through the winter. So we will plan to continue to schedule matches but will be starting at 10 instead of 9. The extra 2 stages for a total of 6 stages went well. Started at 9 and wrapped up and departed by 3. Results are linked to Practiscore.com below. Thanks to all who showed and helped make the match enjoyable. |
Steel Challenge August 15, 2020
Steel Challenge 07-17-20
Fourteen shooters participated in the Steel Challenge
match held 17 July. The majority shot two guns in each category so a
lot of lead went downrange. Getting started at 9am was a big help and
allowed us to finish up and leave by noon. It was a little hot and
humid to say the least. Grab your guns and join us in August for the
next shoot.
Practiscore has the results listed under BS Steel Challenge due to a download glitch.

We had a very nice June day to restart the Steel
Challenge season. Twelve shooters shooting 21 guns. We got in 5 stages
between 9 and 1. The afternoon shower waited on us to finish and get
everything up. We had some spectators who said they hope to make the
next match.

21 December 2019
14 Shooters decided the weather was not going to keep them from having a good day shooting. Mother Nature gave us decent weather for mid December. The clouds were out all afternoon but a few small propane heaters and hand warmer packs kept everyone's mind on shooting instead of cold fingers. Thanks to Judy and Gary Gallion for the heaters and hand warmers. The Practiscore software (two tablets and laptop) were used with no paper backups this event. All went smoothly with most competitors pitching in to share timing and scoring duties. The link below will take you to the Practiscore site and directly to the BRRC match results. If anyone has problems you can email me (cbailey.1956@yahoo.com) or call me (Craig Bailey 540-589-3628) to get individual results. Thanks to all match officials and shooters. Have a safe and Merry Christmas. January's shoot is scheduled but depends on the weather. Match organizers are in the process of looking to set up a third stage starting in the spring of 2020. One prospective member has been fabricating extra bases. Steel targets are being inventoried to ensure we can run a third field and have a total of 6 stages for each shoot. That will take us to the same level as most sanctioned USPSA matches. We are in the process of setting up with the USPSA as a sanctioned club. Match results will be stored and maintained so shooters can attain a class rating. It will be the individual shooters responsibility to join USPSA and get a shooter registration number if they want their scores tracked and maintained. USPSA MEMBERSHIP IS NOT REQUIRED FOR ANY INDIVIDUAL TO PARTICIPATE IN BRRC STEEL CHALLENGE EVENTS. Our goal is a safe and fun place for individuals and families to shoot steel plates. Many shooters are bringing their younger family members and friends to introduce them to shooting and the associated good time by all. Starting in 2020 we will change the shooting fees. This will help us to cover the expenses of setting up and maintaining a 6 stage match. Fee structure will be: First gun $10 for all participants, except that competitors under 18 who are accompanied by a paying adult will shoot at no charge. Second gun will be $5 for club members and $10 for non members. https://practiscore.com/results/html/1ca0755b-3ae6-4121-b4b4-368fe45c7e41 |
November 16, 2019
23
Shooters showed up to shoot the Nov Steel Challenge match. The sun was
out but it got cold fast starting around 3 pm. A total of 31 guns were
shot between the 23 shooters and a good time was had by all. The match
started at 1 pm and lasted until 5 pm. We had many new shooters from
the area due to the shoot being advertised on a web site called
PractiScore. Thank you and welcome to all that attended. The match was
scored and recorded using PractiScore's free software that is in use
throughout the shooting community. We did paper backup also at this match
but the software and smart phones did all the tedious recording and
sorting. Thanks to Judy and Gary Gallion for the work in setting this
up. That being said a link is being provided below to view the match
results. The link will take you to PractiScore and the results are
listed by categories and overall scores. Hopefully just click and view.
Please come back and shoot again. If the link does not work you can go to the site "Practiscore" and do a search for BRRC steel challenge. If you are having no luck email me at cbailey.1956@yahoo.com and I will look up your results. Thanks, Craig Bailey |
