The Ninth World Action Pistol Championship was held on May 15-16, 2014 at the Rockcastle shooting range at Park City, KY. Eleven shooters from VA participated with 5 of those being from our club: Steve Huff, Kevin Angstadt, Andy Krantz, Mark Spangler and Greg Davis. Kevin finished in second place overall and Andy won Senior Division.

The 35th Anniversary Midway USA/Bianchi Cup National Action Pistol Championship was held May 20-24, 2014 At Columbia, MO with 13 VA shooters participating and again, 5 of those were the same members who shot in the World Match.  There was a record attendance of 282 shooters. Again, Bedford Rifle & Revolver Club, Inc. members did themselves proud!

Since 2000, there have only been 2 winners at the Cup. Doug Koenig and Bruce Piatt have been unbeatable forces at that event............until now!  Kevin Angstadt capitalized on an error by Doug who dropped 2 points on his last string of fire at the 25-yard line on the Moving Target event and gun problems for Bruce on the Barricade Event that opened the door for Kevin to win with a final score of 1920-171x. He was the only shooter with a "perfect" 1920.  And now there are 3 winners since the turn of the century!

Andy Krantz finished in 2nd place in Senior division with Travis Hayton from Bluefield VA being the only other Virginian finishing in the top 20 overall scoring.  Mark Spangler and Greg Davis were in the top 20 (in the money) for Metallic shooters.

All in all a great showing from the Commonwealth shooters, and even more impressive for our little local club. Congratulations to all our guys on a job well done, and a good time was celebrated by all who attended.
